Syd Ginsberg was born in New York City in 1929.  She has been a working, professional sculptor for more than 60 years.

She graduated from Washington Irving High School in New York City where she studied sculpture with Robert Russin.   She received her college degree from the School of Art at Copper Union in New York City.  Among her instructors at Cooper Union were sculptors Milton Hebald, John Hovannes, George Katrina, and Robert Russin.  While attending Cooper Union, she also studied with painters Byron Thomas, Joseph Raffo, Nick Marsicano, Morris Kantor, and printmaker, Bob Blackburn.  During her tenure at Cooper Union, Ms. Ginsberg studied privately with noted English sculptor, Oliver O'Connor Barrett.

While a student at Cooper Union and thereafter throughout the 1950's in New York City, Ms. Ginsberg  was the founding partner of a New York City company called Objects Unlimited which specialized in the manufacture of the tools of her artistic trade - hand-forged, high quality carving and sculpting tools.

Ms. Ginsberg began exhibiting her sculpture at the ACA Galleries in New York City in 1949.  From 1949 through 1988, her work was exhibited at galleries and art society venues, including numerous One-Person Shows, in New York, Connecticut, and Dallas, Texas.  She has been honored with many prizes and awards for her sculpture in bronze.

In 1988, Ms. Ginsberg moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  Her work has been exhibited at many galleries in San Miguel de Allende and Queretaro, Mexico.  She continues to reside and maintain her studio in San Miguel de Allende.

Her contemporary, figurative bronzes capture her innate knowledge and mastery of the human form.  Ms. Ginsberg's work is neither cynical nor traditional.  Her sculpture embodies her impression of form and structure and her expression of thought and mindfulness through gesture – evocative without sentimentality.

Galeria 19 Fine Art is Syd Ginsberg's exclusive representative in Texas.
