Born in 1909 in Budapest, Hungary, and son of the eminent Hungarian sculptor, Stephen Gách, George Gách was initially imbued with the classical traditions of the Beaux-Arts.  He apprenticed under his father’s tutelage until the age of 18, and then attended the Fine Arts Academy in Budapest, where he later became an assistant professor.

As a pilot during World War II, Gách was shot down and imprisoned by the Russian Army.  He escaped and returned to Budapest.  With the fall of Hungary to the Soviet Union, Gách fled to Beirut, where he continued both careers as pilot, this time for a commercial airline, and artist.  He taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut, while continuing to paint and sculpt, as well as traveling throughout the world.

In 1952, Gách relocated his family to the United States and devoted himself entirely to his painting, sculpting, and art instruction.  From his traditional and classical background in the arts, his own brand of impressionism and realism began to emerge as he enjoyed the development and maturation of his talent and expertise as a painter and sculptor

.
From 1959-1969, Gách traveled widely in Mexico, spending a great deal of that time in the state of Guanajuato, particularly San Miguel de Allende.  His representational oil paintings of San Miguel de Allende and elsewhere in Guanajuato provide a historical glimpse of Central Mexico some 40-50 years ago.  Gách's paintings provide us a bridge to look back at nostalgic old-world ways and look ahead to the ever-advancing modern, new world

.
Gách's paintings and bronzes are in collections worldwide.  He was commissioned by international Heads of State, Governors, and other celebrities.  His works can be found in a multitude of museums and famed institutional collections in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

Galeria 19 Fine Art in Fredericksburg, Texas is Mr. Gach's exclusive representative in Texas.
